Good Fences #38

A couple of gates in the area. One quite detailed and ornate.
Complete with a few barking dogs to make certain I didn't linger.
The other much more stream-lined but still very striking.
Here's the link-up!

They're both nice, although the second one is my favorite. I like the minimal look and the star!

Love the first one---mainly 'cause of the lampposts!!

Margaret Adamson said...

Yes I agree with Brian.

Love your fences!
The first one was quite a bit of work and looks nice,
but I prefer the streamlined one with the lone star :))

Have a fine day

Two great looking gates. The first one is my favorite. I love those deer and the windmill. Very artsy!

georgettesullins said...

I like them both. "Reading" all the images on the first one is fun. Rick and I sometimes play around with the thought of what would we put on our fancy gate if we got one. hmmmm...What would you put on your fancy gate if you got one?

Love principally the first fence!
So cute the dog looking at you behind the fence.

I love that first one with the wildlife theme. It is fantastic!

You have the coolest gates in Texas. Very nice.

They were both beautiful, but I liked the first one best :)

That first one is pretty, yet for my own place, i'd like the second better. Just like when i see pretty things that i wouldn't want to own, just look at in other people's houses (mostly i wouldn't want to have to dust/clean/maintain them is the reason!).

Linda Kay said...

Love that first fence, but it doesn't look like it would keep you out or the dogs inside!

Sandra said...

I love the second fence and love love love the first one with the barking dogs. bet that cost a big fat bundle..

Both of them are pretty, but the Ciardo's one is my favorite.

Striking fences indeed. Thanks for hosting this meme. I love it. The second gate would have to be modified to keep my [many] pups inside the garden. Have a great day. Jo

I like both of the fences you presented today.

I like the second gate better. The first one is a bit too busy for me. Gee, maybe next week I can get my act together and post a Good Fence. Must make a note of that.

I love the second one! Plain and simple - like me; with just enough curve to keep it interesting. ;)

I like both, but #1 better, if forced to chose. I have been playing on the computer since 7 am and never linked in WHAT???? my bad, doing it now!!!!

Karen S. said...

Not sure my first comment went through, blogger is still buggy! I really favor the first gate, I'd love it, the little barking greeter is adorable, probably friendly too! Second one nice too, his Star of Texas is very delightful, not too overbearing, but highly noticeable!

don said...

That first gate is totally amazing. The Texas gates seem much better organized than the few I have run across near here. I think gates have been an important part of ranch life in Texas for a long time whereas decorative gates here are a new idea.

bailey-road.com said...

Both gates are really attractive, but I think I prefer the simpler Lone Star gate. The first one seems to have a little too much going on.

Fjällripan said...

Beautiful gates! The first one was really full with nice details :)

Stephen Hayes said...

That first one is amazing. You could write a story about all that's going on there.

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

The dogs don't look too scary! That is quite a work of wrought iron art there.

I forgot it was Thursday before I did my posting. That's what I get for doing this in the morning before the caffeine has hit my brain.

Mama Zen said...

I love that first one!

Ida said...

Cool gates. That first one is pretty fancy. Somehow the deer just seem so small in comparison to the big cacti on the sides of the fence. Barking dogs are so not fun when you want to get good pictures. You can tell your in Texas with the big star on the second gate.

Ms. A said...

Wow, that first gate is very ornate!

Terri Buster said...

That first one is extraordinary! Both are pretty..I love black iron fences and gates.

Black Jack's Carol said...

You find amazing gates! Love both of these, the first for its imagination and detail and the second for its simplicity and clean design. I had some fences for you but will have to post later today. I've fallen behind.. again! Many thanks for hosting, Theresa!

Kenneth Cole Schneider said...

That first gate must have set the owner's bank account back a bit! Thanks for visiting my site this morning. As usual we were out in the wetlands and visiting the eagle nest and another preserve since before sunrise and I'm just getting to my mail. Some day I'll sleep late on a Thursday and make it to the top of the heap!

wildlifewatcher said...

Hi Theresa, That second gate has a Texas Star much like the one the rancher has decorating the shop garage in the picture. The first picture's gate is very custom. Glad the pups did not bother you much. Have a tremendously nice afternoon and evening! Wildlifewatcher
